Westside Elementary
Programs, Clubs and Infrastructure

  • Infrastructure

Westside Elementary has a Safe Routes to School Plan, finalized in September of 2025!

Together with Hood River Valley High School, the Urban Boundary has a total of 27 infrastructure recommendations including Frankton and Belmont. Beginning on page 20 of the plan, you will find a school site plan, identified barriers for students and recommendations to make walking and biking safer

  • 80s Walk & Roll Club

80s Walk & Roll Club was inspired by movies of the 1980s like Goonies and E.T. and the current show of Stranger Things. All these shows feature free-range, problem-solving kids riding bikes or blazing trails in the woods.

Students will gain more confidence in biking while subversively learning traffic etiquette, empathy and laws. We listen to music and have fun.

5th to 8th graders welcome. Offered year around.

  • Events

Throughout the year, Westside will join students around the globe on WEDNESDAYS, as we celebrate these special events:

  • Bike Rodeo

During the Spring, Megan Ramey will join Mr. Bertram for the kinder and 5th grade classes to coach students how to ride, build their confidence and teach basic traffic law, etiquette and empathy.
